Having to fill out forms can be tedious, especially when they’re in a language you don’t speak! If you plan on visiting Turkish sometime soon, but are having difficulty getting your application together, then this is the guide for you. In this article, we cover what documents you need to fill out the Turkish Visa Application Online and how to fill them out as accurately as possible so that you won’t have any issues at the airport when traveling to Turkey.

1) Turkey’s tourism campaign

Come to Turkey, where you can drink rakı in a bathtub! Remember that? The Turkish Tourism Ministry created that campaign back in 2013 as part of a larger push to get travelers to come to Turkey. While it may have been tongue-in-cheek, there was an element of truth behind it: Turkey has its fair share of unbelievable views and experiences that you probably haven’t seen anywhere else. But first, you have to make it there. And sometimes, getting there can be tough. This is why we at Frommer’s decided to put together these seven tips for completing your Turkish Visa Application Online in one easy go—so you can spend more time making decisions on what nonalcoholic beverage goes best with your sauna dip.

2) The documents you need

Visas are issued electronically, so you’ll need a few tools to make sure you complete your application accurately and efficiently. When preparing your Turkish visa application online, you’ll need a laptop or desktop computer; internet access via Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection; and Adobe Acrobat Reader (to view/save PDF files). Ideally, these items will already be in your possession—but if not, buy them now. You’ll also want to make sure your passport is up-to-date and that it hasn’t expired yet. If necessary, renew it through a government agency before applying for your visa online.

3) Health insurance

When you travel abroad, you’re responsible for your own health insurance. Your normal medical coverage may not follow you outside of your home country, and in many countries, even emergency care isn’t available to people without proof of insurance. If you need a visa or residence permit in Turkey, applying for health insurance is a requirement before submitting your application. Once approved, make sure that you have a Turkish ID card from the Social Security Organization (SGK). You can use it to pay your premiums and receive treatments at hospitals or clinics if needed. Turks aren’t required to carry health insurance while traveling inside their own country; however, they are encouraged to take out voluntary policies with local companies if they want financial protection when seeking medical treatment abroad.

4) Currency exchange

Before you travel to Turkey, find out whether your bank charges a fee for currency exchange. Many banks do—even if you use your debit card at an ATM or in a branch. You can avoid fees by using another bank or changing money at an airport kiosk, but those exchanges can be costly too; most airports add a flat currency conversion fee of between 1% and 3%. To save on your trip, open a checking account at one of these credit unions (we recommend avoiding big national banks) that don’t charge foreign transaction fees: EverBank, First Internet Bank of Indiana, and Radius Bank. They all offer free checking accounts without minimum balance requirements. Turkish Visa Online

5) Accommodation plans

If you’re traveling to Turkey, there are a number of factors to consider when it comes to accommodation. The city and type of accommodation you choose will largely depend on what your interests are. A few factors to think about before making reservations include amenities, cost, and location. If you want to save money but don’t mind roughing it a bit, check out Airbnb or Couchsurfing. Also, remember that if you plan on being in Istanbul during Ramadan (June 6-July 5), prices may be higher as many businesses close early during that time.
