If you’re planning to move to Canada, you may have heard that it’s difficult to get a visa to immigrate there as either a Swedish or Colombian citizen. This isn’t strictly true – if you qualify for certain visa programs, you can still get a Canada visa in both of these countries! Read on to learn about the best way to get your Canada Visa for Colombia Citizens or Sweden citizens so that you can move north when the time comes.

What is an eTA?

ETA stands for Electronic Travel Authorization. It is an electronic system that allows Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers at ports of entry to verify whether you are allowed into Canada when you arrive by air. This process only takes minutes and is similar to checking in for a flight online before arriving at the airport. Once approved, you will be able to enter Canada with peace of mind knowing that you are admissible, avoiding possible delays or even being denied entry. While an eTA does not guarantee entry into Canada, it does speed up your arrival process since your travel history will already be available to CBSA officers when they see your file at inspection points.

What are your options if you don’t have an eTA?

If you don’t have an ETA, you can still travel to Canada, you just won’t be able to use certain modes of transportation. You will be forced to get a visitor visa if you do not have an eTA and cannot use: 1) Aeroplanes, 2) Ferries 3) Trains 4) Buses 5) Cruise ships. So what are your options if that’s your situation? Here are some common reasons why people don’t have an eTA: they’re under 18 years old, they’re over 70 years old, they’ve previously been denied entry into Canada or they have criminal convictions on their record. If that sounds like you then there is hope! We’ll cover those scenarios below and what your options are. Canada Visa for Swedish Citizens

How to Apply for an eTA Online

If you’re traveling to Canada, then you will likely need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Here’s how it works: visit travel.gc.ca and follow their step-by-step instructions. Keep in mind that they will also require proof of your citizenship and payment before they process your application. If you have any trouble along the way, don’t worry—they have representatives available 24/7. After submitting your information online, you should be approved in just minutes! Good luck!

Are there any countries with reciprocity for ETAs?

There are 20 countries that have agreements with Canada, called reciprocity arrangements. This means citizens of these countries can apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) and avoid having to go through some of the more rigorous application processes. To see if you’re eligible for an eTA, check out CIC’s website. However, not all of those countries have visa-free travel policies. See our Canadian work permit page for more information on these reciprocity agreements with specific countries.

Is there a fee for the eTA? Section: Why Do I Need an eTA?

Why do I need an eTA? If you plan on traveling to Canada by air, you’ll need an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization). The eTA is an electronic travel authorization, which was introduced by Citizenship and Immigration Canada in 2015. In order to board a flight departing from Canada, all travelers will be required to present an eTA—even Canadian citizens. Although there are currently exceptions in place for those traveling on Canadian passports with dual citizenship (Canadian passport holders who also hold citizenship of another country) and US Permanent Residents, starting August 1st, 2017, even these groups will be required to have an eTA if flying out of any Canadian airport. So what does that mean for ex-pats living outside of Canada?

Other Canadian Travel Visas and Permits

In addition to getting a Canadian work visa, most citizens of foreign countries need one or more additional travel visas in order to visit Canada. These include a Visitor visa: This allows someone who is not going to be employed while in Canada to visit family, travel, attend events and engage in other activities during their stay. It is valid for up to six months and can be extended for an additional 6 months. A visitor visa is good for multiple entries into Canada during its duration. Transit Visa: This type of visa is required by anyone who needs to stop over in Canada on their way from one country (or US state) to another.
